The Tornado Clipper New Year’s Eve is an eight-hour evening in two parts on 31 December 2026: a three-course dinner with live music at Balls Brothers, Minster Court (3 Mincing Lane, EC3R 7PP), with a welcome drink at 5:00pm and dinner from 6:00pm, then a short walk to Tower Millennium Pier for 8:30pm boarding and a 9:00pm departure, returning at approximately 1:15am. A glass of Prosecco opens the evening and another is poured at midnight to toast 2027. Of the boats that pair dinner ashore with a clipper, this one boards earliest and comes back first. Cancellations and amendments are no longer available.

The earliest boarding of the dinner-and-clipper evenings

Four evenings here follow the same shape — dinner in a restaurant, then a clipper on the river — and the difference between them is when you get on the boat. The Tornado boards at 8:30pm and departs at 9:00pm, earlier than the others, which means the longest stretch on the water before midnight rather than a rush to make the gangway.

It also means the evening ends first, back alongside at about 1:15am. Dinner at Balls Brothers has live music of its own, so the music starts with the meal rather than at the pier.

How the night unfolds

5:00pm — Balls Brothers, Minster Court

A welcome drink at 3 Mincing Lane, in the middle of the City, with dinner served from 6:00pm and live music through the meal. Roads across central London close early on 31 December, so allow far more time than usual and check the Transport for London closures before you travel.

After dinner — the walk to Tower Pier

A short walk from the restaurant to Tower Millennium Pier. Boarding is at 8:30pm and the gangway does not wait, so leave the table in time.

9:00pm — on the river

The Tornado casts off and works along the Thames with the lit City behind, musical entertainment on board and the bar open.

Midnight to 1:15am — fireworks, then back

A second glass of Prosecco is poured for the toast as the fireworks go up over the river. The boat returns to Tower Millennium Pier at approximately 1:15am.

Before you book

Dinner is at Balls Brothers and the walk to the pier afterwards is short, but it is outdoors in December: bring a coat you can walk in. Children are welcome from twelve years old.

The Prosecco at the start and the glass at midnight are included; everything else at the bar is paid for separately. The crew work to hold the best position they can for the fireworks, but river traffic, weather and tide decide where the boat sits, and the captain’s decision on the night is final. After dinner at Balls Brothers, you will be escorted on foot to the pier for boarding.
If booking as a group, please do so in a single transaction to ensure you are seated together. There is no guarantee that passengers will sit at the same table if booked separately.
If you cannot attend dinner, please arrive at the pier 30 minutes before the scheduled departure time. A Golden Tours representative will check you in.
Due to strict boat schedules, late arrivals cannot be accommodated.
Roads may close early in preparation for the fireworks display. Please check road closures at www.tfl.gov.uk before traveling.
Infants are welcome on board but require a paid ticket.
Please note that large luggage and bags of any kind will not be allowed on board the vessels.

Due to the high traffic expected on the Thames, weather conditions, and changing tides, it is not possible to know in advance the positioning of the boat for the fireworks display. However, the captain and onboard team will do their best to ensure the best viewing point.
As with all New Year’s Eve cruises on the Thames, the captain and onboard team will do their best to secure the best possible position for viewing the fireworks. However, due to expected river traffic, weather conditions and tidal changes, the boat’s final positioning and the visibility of the fireworks cannot be guaranteed. The captain’s decision on the night will be final.
