The New Year’s Eve Dinner Cruise is a five-hour City Cruises sailing on the River Thames on 31 December 2026, and the one that stays out until 2:00am — the latest return of the dinner boats leaving Tower Millennium Pier. Boarding is at 8:30pm for a 9:00pm departure. A welcome glass of champagne, a three-course dinner followed by tea or coffee, half a bottle of wine per person and a glass of champagne at midnight are included, with a live singer and dancing through the evening. Dinner is served at shared tables of up to ten. The dress code is smart casual and tickets cannot be cancelled once booked.

The one that stays out until 2am

Three dinner cruises leave Tower Millennium Pier on 31 December and they are not interchangeable. This is the one with the longest night: it comes back at approximately 2:00am, about three quarters of an hour after the others have tied up. If the part of New Year’s Eve you care about is what happens after the fireworks — the hour when the singer is still going and the boat is still on the water — this is the one that gives you most of it.

The trade-off is at the other end of the evening: boarding is at 8:30pm, later than the other two, so dinner starts once you are already under way rather than before departure.

    How the night unfolds

From 8:30pm — Tower Millennium Pier

Check-in is on Lower Thames Street, below road level. Be at the pier 30 minutes before boarding. Central London closes to traffic long before midnight, so check the Transport for London road closures before you set off; the boat does not wait.

    9:00pm — dinner under way

A welcome glass of champagne is served and the boat casts off. Dinner is three courses followed by tea or coffee, with half a bottle of wine per person, at tables seating up to ten.

    Midnight — champagne and fireworks

A second glass of champagne is poured for the toast as the fireworks go up over the river, with the singer and the dancing carrying on afterwards.

Until 2:00am — back at Tower Pier

The boat returns to Tower Millennium Pier, the latest return of the three. Tower Hill and Monument are the nearest stations; check what is running before planning the way home.

    Before you book

The dress code is smart casual and it is enforced: jeans and trainers are not allowed. Dinner is at shared tables seating up to ten, so unless you are a party of ten you will be seated with other guests; book in a single transaction if you want to be sure of sitting together. Children are welcome from five, and the child fare covers ages 5 to 17.

Everything beyond the two glasses of champagne and the half bottle of wine is bought at the bar and paid for separately. The crew work to hold the best position they can for the fireworks, but river traffic, weather and tide decide where the boat can sit, and the captain’s decision on the night is final. Tickets cannot be cancelled once booked.
