The Meteor Clipper New Year’s Eve pairs a dinner ashore with a Thames cruise on 31 December 2026. A welcome drink is served at 5:00pm at Balls Brothers, Minster Court (3 Mincing Lane, EC3R 7PP), with dinner from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, followed by a ten-minute walk to Tower Millennium Pier. Boarding is by 9:15pm for a 9:30pm departure, with a glass of sparkling wine on arrival and live music on board, returning at approximately 1:30am. Unusually for New Year’s Eve, amendments and cancellations are free up to 30 days before.
The one you can still cancel
Almost every boat on the river that night is sold on final terms: book it and the money is gone. The Meteor is one of the few that is not. Amendments and cancellations are free up to thirty days before departure, which for a plan made in August or September is the difference between a decision and a commitment.
The evening itself is the familiar two-part shape: dinner at Balls Brothers in the City, then a ten-minute walk to Tower Millennium Pier. Dinner runs to a fixed window, 6:00pm to 8:00pm, so there is more than an hour between the last course and the gangway.
How the night unfolds
5:00pm — Balls Brothers, Minster Court
A welcome drink at 3 Mincing Lane, then dinner served from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Roads across central London close early on 31 December, so allow far more time than usual and check the Transport for London closures before you travel.
By 9:15pm — a ten-minute walk to Tower Pier
The restaurant is about ten minutes on foot from Tower Millennium Pier. Boarding closes at 9:15pm and the boat cannot wait for latecomers.
9:30pm — sparkling wine and live music
A glass of sparkling wine on arrival, live musical entertainment on board, and the river between the City and the South Bank as the boat gets under way.
Midnight to 1:30am — the fireworks, then back
Midnight and the fireworks over the Thames, then the return to Tower Millennium Pier at approximately 1:30am.
Before you book
Tables at Balls Brothers are shared with other diners, and separate bookings are not guaranteed a table together: book in a single transaction if your group wants to eat side by side. Allow for the walk between the restaurant and the pier, outdoors, at the end of December.
Amendments and cancellations are free up to thirty days before departure — after that point the booking is final. The crew work to hold the best position they can for the fireworks, but river traffic, weather and tide decide where the boat sits on the night, and the captain’s decision is final.
